How can we avoid confining the process of building a research object to an esoteric epistemological quest reserved to an ex clusive happy few? This article purports to contribute to a collective reflexive pedagogical endeavor on the transmission of the craft of sociology. Considering the social conditions that determine the transmission of sociology, it sketches the preliminary conditions for a rational pedagogy on the construction of a research object. Such a reflexive pedagogy involves the careful and systematic deconstruction of the series of social facts – including those internal to the discipline itself – that can contribute to hinder this transmission. Overcoming, at least partially, some of the social obstacles to the formation of a scientific spirit requires a sociological analysis that exposes the implicit structures of the operations of sociology itself as mystification.
