Is the distinction between graduates and nongraduates still relevant in a context in which certain qualifications provide only a slim advantage, and where the conditions for accessing the labour market converge for those with qualifications and those without? The current French situation begs the question. In this article, we approach this issue through statistic data from the Generation survey conducted by CEREQ, as well as qualitative interview-based studies with young people who have recently graduated from initial training. Their intense desire to work does not always allow these young people to easily access stable employment.
