CAIRN-INT.INFO : International Edition

Description

Founded in 1929 by Marc Bloch and Lucien Febvre, the Annales has always sought to transcend its prestigious heritage by continually presenting the most innovative research in the field of history. The journal equally provides a unique platform for dialogue between the various social sciences, remaining open to new fields of research, comparative history, cultural analysis, and epistemological reflection. Renowned experts and emerging historians alike contribute to keeping the spirit of the Annales alive. The journal also accords an important place to the examination of recent scientific developments in the form of book reviews (200 per year) and in-depth analysis of the most important works being published today. The Annales is the most widely distributed Francophone journal in the world.

The Annales is published thanks to the support of the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) and the support of the Florence Gould Foundation.

Instructions to Authors

The Annales only accepts original, previously unpublished articles. Every manuscript proposal is submitted to the editorial board.
Manuscripts should be submitted to the editorial office in four copies along with an electronic file in the form of a Word document. Text should be double-spaced.
Articles should not exceed 90,000 characters (including footnotes and spaces). Maps or graphics should be submitted in native format or EPS. As the number of illustrations per article is limited upon publication, any annex documents can eventually be published on this website in the “Complementary Reading” section.
Each manuscript should include an abstract in both French and English, approximately 800 characters long and preceded by the title of the article.
Unpublished articles and book reviews are neither returned to the author nor retained by the editorial office.
In addition, authors are reminded that articles accepted for publication will be translated into English for exclusive distribution online.
Authors are asked to dialogue with the translators of their articles in order to achieve a high-quality scientific translation.
