Carnet de Notes sur les Maltraitances infantiles publishes French-language scientific articles on child abuse. The journal strives to use the difficulty of defining the notion of abuse as a means of opening dialogue and confronting theories and perspectives from other disciplines, including social work, psychology, sociology, law, history, and criminology. The journal does not aim to consider the treatment of abuse as an isolated discipline; rather, it seeks to establish ties between practice and theory, and between studies. The journal is published twice yearly, and it is primarily circulated in Belgium, but also in France and Canada. In order to ensure the rigor and scientific validity of the journal, every article submitted to the editorial committee is peer reviewed by at least two specialists in the area, who have expertise in the clinical field, in research, or both. Therefore, anonymity, both of the author and the readers, is ensured throughout the evaluation process.
