In this interview, Michaël Fœssel departs from his book Récidive, which rendered his reading of the French press in 1938, to question the future of contemporary democratic societies and their temptation to de-democratize. He develops certain parallel logics that we find in today’s France and that of 1938. Ecology and care are also questioned as new political horizons. Finally, he analyzes the political power at work in the first confinement in March 2020 linked to the covid‑19 pandemic.
