During the COVID-19 related lockdowns in France in March and November 2020, families lived in almost total isolation. This raises two questions. Firstly, how were intra-family ties affected? Secondly, how were the support functions of the family psychic envelope able to remain operational in this context of unprecedented family proximity? The present paper, based on individual research interviews with each individual member of the same family and an interview with the family as a whole, supplemented by conducting the family projective spatiography test, describes how, in such a context, the permanence of the containing function of the family psychic envelope played out.
