Conspiray theories are gradually gaining ground in Russia since the early 2000s, some even being expressed by officials and political elites. The Syrian, and especially the Ukrainian conflicts have been of fertile ground for those theories to reach a climax in political discourses. However, the roots of those strongly anti-american theories are old, and must be found in the fall of the USSR. Alexandr Dugin, ultranationalist close to the power circles, is one of their main theorists. However, in addition to Dugin, the Russian government also established a propaganda machine following avec specific storytelling, which implicitely reveals Russia’s foreign policy objectives.
