Based on a review of the literature in political science about European legal integration, this article expounds on the evolution in the ways of thinking about that question. After setting out the contributions and limitations of the most important works, it suggests the broad lines of a research program that could ensue. Taking into account the angles and viewpoints of existing works, this program could be focused on the notion of network.
