Description
Économie rurale was established in 1949 to “promote the spread of knowledge about rural economy.” Created by the Société Française d’Économie Rurale (SFER), it contributes to the scientific discussion of social, political, and economic evolutions of the agricultural and rural world.
Economie rurale is one of the rare publications in the social sciences dedicated to agriculture and food production published in French. It is a widely recognized scientific journal referenced by the AEA (American Economic Association) and the JEL (Journal of Economic Literature).
Under the direction of a pluridisciplinary editorial committee, the journal publishes original articles in economics, sociology, and geography on themes of agriculture, food production, the environment, and regional issues.
The journal is bi-monthly, with six issues per year on average, special issues related to a theme (selected articles from SFER conferences), and single issues composed of varia. It is comprised of several sections:
–“Facts and Figures” (a synthesis of agricultural, agribusiness, and rural transformations using statistical data);
–“State of the Art” (reviews of academic literature);
–“Debates” (publication of the perspectives expressed during some of the Agricultural Policy Seminars of the SFER);
–“Reading Notes” (commentaries on recently published works).
