This special report examines the contribution of schooling in reproducing the environment of social classes, by comparing the educational strategies implemented by urban middle-class parents in four different countries, or more specifically, four large metropolitan areas (London, Berlin, Paris, and Buenos Aires). To improve our understanding of these strategies, it also repositions them within changes in social mobility, in the environmental anchoring of these social categories, and in the general theoretical approaches to understanding their role and evolution.
