Whereas in the early modern times, violence was assigned to historical ends, we do not know how to convert violence, which goes on by itself, without any connection to politics. Can we still oppose it to the free and collective exercise of power? The ‘technicization’ of weapons confronts us with intolerable, apolitical and interminable violence.
