Villeurbanne has been designated as the "French Capital of Culture" for 2022. This large city is marked by a long history of social and cultural commitment, a dynamic associative fabric, a young and multicultural population, but also significant poverty and a high unemployment rate. Taking advantage of the momentum created by this designation, the new municipal team has plans to strengthen the coherence of the city.
