The recent enthusiasm for urban beekeeping is inseparable from increased bee colony mortality, seen as a crucial issue for humanity, and is additionally driven by the proliferation of sustainable development policies in cities. This analysis draws on a socio-anthropological approach to highlight how forms of beekeeping have been revived in urban areas. It examines how they coexist, hybridize, and exist in a state of tension in the Ile-de-France region, characterized by a high urbanization gradient.
