This study involves a twofold breakdown of the Prussian administration during a period marked by the transition from the Empire to the Weimar Republic. First, based on a sample of high civil servants grasped through their administrative files, it brings out the competition within the State between the aristocratic and bourgeois elites. Secondly, the breakdown by generations indicates that there was a high degree of continuity in administrative personnel after the First World War, despite regime change.
