CAIRN-INT.INFO : International Edition
English

Translating the non-verbal layer of literary texts makes us aware of the paramount importance of that kind of communication. Contemporary thought has taken a growing interest in such a topic, which generated new sciences like ethology, proxemics, interactional sociology, kinesics, to name just a few. Our paper will focus on this issue by examining how various cultures express anger in poetry and drama. What must be translated is not the words actually uttered by the characters, but their intonations and speech registers, as well as their intentions, so as to allow a text to take root into another culture.
