This article shows how Internet forums and blogs in Chinese society are a means of expression that also reflect patterns of social deregulation, which are considered here as factors of destabilisation. The Internet is seen as fostering practices that, under the cover of anonymity and freedom of expression, may lead young people with uncertain ideological training to individualism rather than to a sense of collective or national belonging.
