This article presents an original approach for characterizing information and classifying websites based on a taxonomy of the text units associated with hypertext links in home pages. This approach offers an interesting alternative to statistical methods for processing large volumes of data and contributes, despite the limitations inherent to any classification system, to the construction of meaning in specified organizational environments.
