Meeting Points in a Land of Uncommunication: The Literature of Exile in Europe

Starting from the idea that encounters between Europeans take place in a land of uncommunication, this article explores the literature of exile in Europe to discuss the different origins of uncommunication, from the reception of written accounts to problematical interlocution. This uncommunication can nevertheless be countered by the discursive resources with which authors try to build up a communicational landscape where cohabitation is possible thanks to the ties between exile and French and European culture.
