As the production of discourse reaches a peak during BRICS summits, this article describes it and attempts to understand the intentions behind it. The BRICS countries have become a reference, with the press increasingly making comparisons between them. The idea of recognition appears not only among the political elites, but also in the press. Leaders are also seeking transformation: the New Development Bank is the first multilateral institution founded by the BRICS countries, and other initiatives are emerging as these countries seek to consolidate their position.
