This article focuses on the difficulties faced by the Institut Supérieur de Pédagogie de Paris during its first decade of existence. In a contextUnder the background of reform of the public education system, the Institut Catholique de Paris had to adapt its training offer while maintaining the theological orientations that characterize it. This chapter of teacher training in catholic higher education emphasizes the division between advocates of change inspired by the theories and methods of the new education and guardians of Christian orthodoxy. Far from being reduced to the doctrinal aspects, arbitrations have also been made with regard to financial considerations that ensure the sustainability of this teacher-training system.
