Martin van Creveld’s book, Les Femmes et la Guerre, used a cultural-determinism approach to criticize the introduction of women into the armed forces. To back up his opposition to the trend, he sought to prove that it leads to a decline in war—the main social function of which was to make use of men’s capabilities—and consequently to a decline in armed forces. That work drew on numerous historical examples and carried on from theories the author had developed in his previous works.
