The scientific action is at the heart of many research in sociology of sciences. The constructivist research program particularly highlights its instrumental, productive and communicational dimensions. Putting in perspective this constructivist representation of action from the point of view of the three interdependent registers of any sociological analysis—theory, interpretation and empirical work—the author not only proposes to establish the limits of interpretative and explanatory models but also to anchor the analysis of sciences in a moderate form of actionism.
