The aim of this article is to contextualize a forgotten article of Georg Simmel, “On the social psychology of hostility”, which issued in May 1908. This text is all the more significant as Simmel brought it out in La vie contemporaine, the first French journal for social psychology. This article is also the last sociological contribution he translated for the French public.
