The historiographical approach of the first “Série” of the journal L’Année sociologique (1898-1913) will be organised on several points: firstly, we try to remain what was the field of the scientifical journals when L’Année has been launched. Secondly, we think about the avantages and inconvenients of the “reviews,” which were devoted to one main task, to cover the scientific literature of every year. This point is linked to the other task of the durkheimian team: to built out the divisions of the sociology, as a new discipline, both synthetic and analytic. Then, we try to evaluate the results of Durkheim’s will which was to consider religion as a central issue. This point depends on Durkheim way of being a leader. Could it be said that L’Année was a “school”? We conclude about the collective force that has permitted this successful enterprise.
