The contemporary world is pervaded with conflicts and issues raised by the encounter of women, men, and cultures within modern, migratory, plural, and hybrid societies, which are in constant flux. L’Autre, a transcultural and transdisciplinary journal, created by clinicians and practitioners from the human sciences, seeks to be the vehicle of reflection in this domain.
This site is aimed at everyone involved in this study of connections and encounters, where—to paraphrase Édouard Glissant—plural identities are constructed through exchange. It is for all those who want to understand and to act, in the fields of health, social welfare, education, justice, politics, and the media.
L’Autre is a transcultural, peer-reviewed journal, which publishes three issues per year. It publishes original texts, such as special reports, articles, minutes of scientific events, debates, news pieces, literary and philosophical texts, documents, and reviews.
Through the interaction it foregrounds between cultures and societies, the journal unites the clinical sciences (psychiatry, psychology, psychoanalysis, humanitarian medicine) and the human sciences (anthropology, history, linguistics, epistemology, philosophy, sociology, law).
Alongside our digital and print publications, journal, and book collections, we organize yearly thematic symposiums and summer schools in different countries.
L’Autre’s publications help us to discover new ways of thinking about the clinic and the major issues that face today’s societies.
The L’autre website is aimed at those engaged in the work of connections and encounters, where, in the words of Edouard Glissant, “plural identities are constructed through exchange.” It is aimed at those who want to understand and act on this concept, in the fields of health, social affairs, education, justice, politics, arts, and the media.
The journal publishes academic articles (special features and original articles), research papers, interviews, and reviews. Typescripts should be submitted by email to sevan.minassian@aphp.fr and mariette.plagne-ext@aphp.fr.
