The Client Engagement in Child Protective Services (Yatchemneoff, 2005), a multidimensional measure of parental engagement in child protective services, is evaluated in a two-phase study conducted with 123 parents from Quebec, Canada. The adequacy of a French version of the psychometric instrument is determined. The factorial structure proposed by Yatchemnoff is adequately reproduced, internal consistency and quality of fit scores of the French version are generally good and comparable to originals. Construct validity is then established by assessing relationships with variables associated with parental engagement. Use of the instrument is supported. Despite some limitations which could require further work, the diversity of information it provides makes it a unique instrument.
