Our research suggests that, within businesses, intelligent appropriation of digital transformation as a practice is possible when it results from collective support provided by multiple parties performing different roles. Based on a qualitative survey of 20 HR managers and directors, we analyze all the formal and informal practices whereby individuals and groups assume powers conventionally attributed to the role of HR. We thus help to clarify the conditions for a supportive HR role that connects digitalization and collective intelligence.
