The journal Matériaux pour l’Histoire de Notre Temps, published jointly by the Bibliothèque de documentation internationale contemporaine (BDIC) and the friends of the library association since 1985, appears twice a year (4 times a year until 2012).
It presents articles written by the top specialists, French or foreign, dealing with the thematic fields and geographical areas covered by the BDIC which specializes in 20th- to 21st-century contemporary history: world wars and contemporary conflicts, international relations, colonialism and decolonization, migratory questions, social history, human rights, Sovietology, history of the European Union, Latin America, etc.
Most of the illustrations are taken from documents belonging to the library-museum’s collections (archives, photographs, posters, documents).
Each issue is structured around a theme coordinated by a managing scientific specialist and contains a Varia section which publishes the work of doctoral candidates and young researchers. The journal thus offers a reflection of the status of research on the issues of contemporary history.
