English
Economic theory considers education the perfect substitute for child labor. Education is represented as a homogeneous institution and as the only way to pull children out of the labour market. We distinguish formal and informal education. Each household chooses between these two forms of education according to its financial standing. Child labor in the brick kiln industry shows that parents' choice of traditional training is perceived as an apprenticeship for life.
