Starting with a short inventory of the state of the climatic issue we show that, whatever the possible scenario might be, it will include an irreducible part of adaptation. In this perspective we approach the question of geoengineering with a brief state of the art of the most reliable projects. Following we propose three scenarios for a possible recourse to geoengineering technologies. This leads us ultimately to re-examine the stakes of the precautionary principle.
