Contemporary anxieties as symptoms of the ill-being caused by paradoxical capitalism can be understood as a direct consequence of the disintegration of current landmarks and of symbolic frames. The article will first recall the effective presence of violence in social and historical reality. Then the author will examine the de-linkage processes at work in culture and subsequently infer that the activation in the transsubjective order of large narcissistic wounds, with their renewed destructiveness in our digital era, can be experienced and regarded as a threat towards Humankind itself.
