This article focuses on digital marketplaces, interpreted as self-entrepreneurs’ enterprises. Through documentary analysis, observations, and clinical interviews, a sociological survey in the “tinkering” sector analyzes the characteristics and singularities of this sector. The article then shows the meaning of this practice for workers, while their working conditions, income, and security are adverse. Depending on their trajectory, their place in the job market, and their projects, five typical ideals emerge that share the quest for primary, secondary, or one-off income through the purchases of customers.
