Coaching provides support, especially to managers, to improve productivity and performance. There are many shortcomings: the discussion of postulates, the scientific approach, the variability of coaches, psychic dynamics, real work situations. However, managers’ needs are important, especially in the French civil service. In addition, coaching questions the practices of psychologists and occupational health workers. This paper expands these findings and discusses these practices. The interactions between qualitative field analysis and theoretical contributions allow for a multidisciplinary exploratory approach. The variety of occupational health tools and support for managers needs to be scientifically protected. Guarantees must be provided or reaffirmed, such as the French Code of Ethics for Psychologists.
