The 2007 electoral campaign took place in a confusing partisan environment, although it was characterized by fundamental debate and a real mobilization. This sometimes turned violent. It put two men with diametrically opposed personalities and visions in competition with one another. The campaign seemed lively and it raised questions, which may have contributed to an exacerbation of the violence after the announcement of the contested results of the presidential elections.
