In this article, the authors present the results of 6 months of research involving 5 sessions of equitherapy and clinical talks with a 16-year-old juvenile delinquent. Mediation through horseback riding because of its specific characteristics (holding, handling, etc.) creates a relationship with the animal and, when used in parallel with clinical talks, allows the transfer with a clinician to develop. It enables certain psychic processes (symbolization) to emerge, as described by the authors specialized in equitherapy. This case study reveals a new way to experiment with equitherapy in a setting involving juvenile delinquents, serving as an alternative and a complement to classical psychotherapy.
