The yellow jackets protest has been present on digital social networks which facilitated the virality of some content at the start of the movement, then, subsequently and over time, of content accompanying the protest dynamic. The narrative and the staging of violence, as well as the mobilization of emotions, were an integral part of the media operations to disqualify the movement, but they were also elements of rearming the movement itself. In this paper, we would like to shed some light on the protesting uses of digital media by the yellow jackets. The aim is to present the first results of an exploratory survey attesting, on the one hand, the shift in media consumption practices as the movement evolves and, on the other hand, to highlight the role of emotions in the mobilization, in particular relayed by the increasing use of digital social networks.
