This paper presents a new aspect of the links between Rousseau and the Encyclopédie, namely botany. When studying plants, Rousseau often consulted and copied botanical articles from the Encyclopédie. This paper provides concrete examples of copying through an analysis of the Dictionnaire de botanique, Fragment sur le sénéka and two unpublished documents by Rousseau, paying particular attention to the question of the date of writing. The paper also reveals the sources of the Encyclopédie articles on Oeilletons, Ongle, Sénéka, and Supports.
