As an emerging concept, mumpreneurship still generates a single interpretation. We offer a feminist reading of the phenomenon broken down into three propositions that combine both the arrangements for managing the demands of the economic and family spheres (merged or separated), and the degree of adjustment of the mother entrepreneurs’ preferences (whether they are self-adjusting or undergo adaptive adjustment). This typology allows us to analyze, on the one hand, the effects of the institutional context on one type of female entrepreneurship through the adaptation of preferences, and on the other hand, the institutional change brought by mumpreneurs via the degree of merger between the family and economic spheres.
