Exhibiting the characteristics of singular goods, fair trade products, organic agriculture and community-supported agriculture offer a new field to study consumers’ participation in assessment measures. Several organizations develop “participatory guarantee systems” involve all stakeholders in the assessment and guarantee process. They, thus, contribute to a movement of resistance to what is perceived as a risk of not being considered as a singular good or service associated with third-party certification.
