Healthcare professionals and public authorities in France consider telemonitoring to be an answer to the contemporary challenges of healthcare (improving the quality of care and reducing costs). One aspect particularly fuels these hopes: medical telemonitoring. This paper discusses the consistency of the performance aims associated with medical telemonitoring. By looking at the care economy, we characterize the production processes, revealing the participation of a group of hidden actors: the patient and their caregivers. This invisibility seems a necessary condition of the efficiency expected of healthcare.
