How are we to make sense of this almost limitless need to share one’s intimate experience in today’s society? Michaël Foessel takes a metaphysical detour in an attempt to do so. He shows that it has less to do with the desire to share than with a desire to prove the tangible existence of one’s own intimate experience through these interactions. In this respect, the abundant opportunities to present oneself digitally paradoxically introduce an additional tension in our contemporary experience of the intimate.
