Simmel was the first to use the idea of form in sociology, not only as an abstract instrument of methodology, but also as a vital reality, as an expression of the mutual action of everyday life. This article intends to show how Simmel reached this goal by transferring Goethe’s morphology in his metamorphoses of plants to that of money.
