During last times several publications, events and scientific works – from social communication to town planning realms – emphasized the close ties between cinema and city. This link seems especially powerful among the European documentary movie vanguards, the Vertov’s Kino-Oki movement, and, of course, the symphonic film tradition from Walther Ruttmann (Die Sinfonie der Grosstadt, 1927). The main suggestion carried out about urban dynamic by this movie line is really distinctive: great city is not only view as dramatic space par excellence but as modern and tragic human condition. Regarding this subject, we can consider Ruttmann’s film, Berlin Symphony, like the most poetics celebration about modern urban times.
