Based on a study of “private sector upper class” households in affluent neighborhoods in the Parisian suburbs, this article describes the residential strategies implemented by households to control the socialization conditions of their family group. It shows how owning a valuable house in an “elite” neighborhood is a marker of their social status, which participates in social reproduction by transmitting economic capital and class dispositions to their children. In terms of the search for a home, its layout, and its decoration, women contribute to the social positioning of the household and become true housewives.
