Why do some elderly people judge the quality of their home care negatively, and therefore limit how much care they use? Why are some skeptical about the forms of intervention offered by the Personalized Independency Benefit system? Research by DREES-CNSA partially explains these phenomena in terms of disagreements between different conceptions of quality of help and quality of life. This article shows how the approach taken in home care can agree or disagree with the structure of a person’s lifestyle and day-to-day way of life. The article shows that the way in which professional home care agrees or disagrees with these has a crucial effect on how they perceive such care.
